Barry Trigwell, 44, was found bludgeoned to death and partly stripped in the bath at his home in February 1995. He had been killed at the behest of his wife, Anne Trigwell, known as the ‘Black Widow’ who had hired two South Africans to carry out the murder, the Birmingham Mail reports. In 2003, Paul Ras and Loren Anders Sundkvist, both petty criminals from Johannesburg, were jailed after being extradited to face a murder charge. At the Court of Appeal , white-haired and sporting a white moustache, white tank top and polo shirt, Sundkvist was back in court as his lawyers started a challenge to his term. Sundkvist, now 61, had been jailed for a minimum of 18 years for his part in the bloody killing of Mr Trigwell, from Sutton Coldfield, but his legal team said that was too long. Barrister, Jason Elliott, argued that the term did not take into account time which Sundkvist had spent in prison in South Africa before extradition. If documents placed before the English court were correct, his sentence could be shortened by more than a year, he told three top judges. And he said the good behaviour of Sundkvist in prison justified an even bigger cut in his jail time.
